The challenge

What was getting
in the way

Schools often run on a patchwork of registers, messaging groups, video links and separate fee records. Each one works alone, so staff enter the same details more than once and nobody has the full picture of a student.

Parents feel this most. A homework reminder, a circular, an attendance query and a fee receipt can each arrive by a different route, which makes it hard to follow how a child is doing.

  • Learning scattered across tools

Recordings, homework and exam results sit in different places, so students spend time searching before they can start.

  • Parents out of the loop

Without a shared channel, families may only hear about missed work or absences well after the event.

  • Exams that are hard to run remotely

Setting, supervising and marking a test outside the classroom is difficult without tools built for it.

The solution

What
we built

  1. 01

A learning space for every student

We built a student view with a timetable reminder, live and recorded classes, course resources and homework submission, all tied together by one feed.

    Classes
    Live and recorded
    Content
    Videos, exercises, ebooks
    Extra
    Quizzer quiz battles
  2. 02

    Teaching and assessment tools

Teachers plan a course, run lectures, publish resources, then create, proctor and mark tests from the same app.

    Lectures
    Zoom, Google Meet, Teams
    Exams
    Online, offline, hybrid
    Marking
    Answer sheets returned in-app
  3. 03

    Links between school and home

Parents chat with teachers, receive circulars, check attendance, pay fees and track the school bus, while principals message families and review fee collection.

    Messaging
    SMS, email, push, in-app
    Fees
    Online payment and history
    Transport
    Bus tracking

Key features

What made it
useful

  • Assessment

    Proctored examinations

Teachers create and supervise exams in the app. Students then view their evaluated answer sheets and report cards.

    Business impact

    Online, offline or hybrid

  • Attendance

    Geo-facial attendance

Attendance can be marked using location and a face photo, with route-wise reports for transport staff.

    Business impact

    Location and photo check

  • Parents

    A daily view for families

A live feed shows what a child does in class, next to homework alerts, academic progress and school messages.

    Business impact

    Progress, alerts and chat

Before and after

How the work
changed

Classes

Before

Links and shared folders

Class links and recordings are usually passed around by message and stored wherever there is room.

After

One universal feed

Recorded lectures, homework and exams appear in a single feed, with reminders for the day's schedule.

Attendance

Before

Paper registers

Attendance is typically marked on paper, and parents only learn of it when the school gets in touch.

After

Visible in the app

Students and parents can check attendance themselves, and parents can start a leave request from their phone.

Communication

Before

Notes and phone calls

School news reaches families through diaries, phone calls and informal chat groups.

After

Direct chat with teachers

Teachers and parents talk in group or one-to-one chat, and teachers can share class observations as photos, videos or voice notes.

Trust and control

How we kept it
safe and reliable

  • 01

    School-controlled accounts

People get access through their school, which activates each account before it can be used.

    School activated
  • 02

    Content for enrolled students

Verified access means only enrolled students can open lessons, notes and other course resources.

    Verified access
  • 03

    Protected video lessons

Google Widevine DRM and dynamic watermarks help schools guard premium content against piracy.

  • 04

    Message approval

Ask us on a call

NextOS gives a school one app for ERP, LMS and assessments. Students attend classes and submit homework, teachers run lessons and tests, parents follow progress and pay fees, and principals see fee collection and send messages. Each person signs in with an account activated by their school.
