The challenge

What was getting
in the way

On Freelancer.com, good projects can appear at any hour, and quick replies stand a better chance of being read. Freelancers end up refreshing the feed between client calls, then writing a proposal in a hurry.

Template bid tools don't solve this. Sending the same text to every project spends bids on poor matches, and clients can tell when a proposal was never written for them.

  • Missed projects

Work posted overnight or during a client call can be well into its bidding before a freelancer sees it.

  • Wasted bids

Bidding without checking skills and budget fit spends effort on projects unlikely to suit.

  • Loss of control

Automated bids are real bids, so a tool without clear limits can commit a freelancer to the wrong work.

The solution

What
we built

  1. 01

    Feed watching and filtering

A background scheduler polls the live Freelancer.com feed for each account, then drops projects by keyword, project type and budget range.

    Polling
    Every 10 to 60 minutes
    Filters

    Background runs
    Continue with the tab closed
  2. 02

    AI fit scoring

The chosen model scores the remaining projects in batches and explains each score. Anything below the user's minimum is skipped.

    Proposals and bidding

Each qualifying project gets a plain-text proposal written from the user's headline, skills, tone and signature. BidZero then bids or holds the draft for review.

Before and after

How the work
changed

Finding work

Before

Refreshing the feed

Freelancers check for new projects whenever they get a spare moment.

After

Scheduled polling

The feed is checked around the clock at the interval each user sets.

Choosing projects

Before

Quick judgement

Each brief gets a fast look to decide whether it is worth a bid.

After

Fit score with a reason

Skills, budget and category are scored, and the reason is recorded.

Writing bids

Before

Rushed or templated

Proposals are either written under time pressure or copied from a template.

After

Written per project

The AI drafts each proposal from the freelancer's own profile and rules.

Results

The business
difference

  1. Coverage

    10 to 60 min polling

The feed is watched around the clock

BidZero checks for new projects in a freelancer's skills on a set schedule, even with the browser closed.

    Before: Manual refreshAfter: Scheduled checks

  2. Selection

    Skills, budget, category

Bids go only to projects that clear the bar

A fit score and a user-set threshold decide which projects earn a proposal, and the rest are logged with a reason.

    Before: Gut feelAfter: Scored fit

  3. Control

    One-click approval

    Automatic bids or one-click review

Autonomous mode bids as soon as a project qualifies. Approval mode keeps each proposal pending until the user reads it and decides.

    Before: Fully manualAfter: Your choice

Trust and control

How we kept it
safe and reliable

  • 01

    Approval by default

Approval mode is the default, and autonomous bidding is opt-in for each account.

    Human review
  • 02

    Real bids made clear

The product states plainly that autonomous and approved bids are real and can't be reversed.

    Clear warnings
  • 03

    Stored credentials

BidZero's site states that AI keys and Freelancer OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. A saved key's secret is not shown again.

    Encrypted keys
  • 04

    Separate user data

Data is held per user, so one customer's accounts and logs stay apart from another's.

    Per user

Faster delivery

Built on tested foundations

Each enabled account passes through these modules in the same order on every run.

  • Run scheduler

Starts each account's run on its own interval and persists jobs through restarts.

  • Scoring pipeline

Applies filters, batch scoring and the minimum score threshold.

  • Proposal writer

Generates plain-text proposals from each account's profile and tone.

  • Key and token store

Holds AI keys and Freelancer OAuth tokens for each user.

Ask us on a call

BidZero is an AI auto-bidding assistant for Freelancer.com. After a user connects an account and sets rules, it checks the job feed on a schedule, filters and scores each new project for fit, writes a tailored proposal for those that qualify, then bids automatically or holds the proposal for approval.

Automate a repetitive workflow without giving up control

If your team repeats the same review-and-respond routine all day, we can build an AI assistant with clear limits and an approval step.
